Welcome the Granite Affiliate at the University of New Hampshire

It is my honor to welcome the Granite Affiliate at the University of New Hampshire to the Alpha Delta Phi Society.

The Society has made expansion its top priority, and I am pleased an exceptional group of students has taken this step to affiliate with the Alpha Delta Phi Society.

The Board of Governors reviewed the application by this group of students and unanimously voted to grant this student group affiliate status. This group has also been recognized as a student organization by the University of New Hampshire, and is in the process of gaining recognition by the Office of Greek Life there.

If you live in the New England area and would like to help the Granite Affiliate, please let me know at president (at) adps (dot) org so I can forward your information to the expansion committee.

I want to thank the expansion committee, led by Governors Thom Clark and KJ Iribe, for all of their efforts to support this effort.

I am looking forward to an upcoming initiation ceremony and look forward to helping this affiliate take the steps necessary to become an official chapter at our next Convention.

Granite's First Initiation

Date: Saturday, March 1st

Time: ~2pm

Place: The Middletown Chapter House / 185 High Street, Middletown, CT

Reception and party to follow.

Official invite to be sent out next week

Anticipated FAQ

2 PM – isn't the sun still up (aka why so early)?

Due to a series of scheduling conflicts, the best time for the Granite pledges to initiate is in the afternoon. 2pm is the suggested gathering time with the actual ceremony happening within the hour. While it may seem strange for an initiation to happen so early in the day, on the brighter side it means there will be more time to party afterward. If certain conflicts can be resolved, we may start later in the afternoon, but an evening or night initiation will not be possible this time around. The official invitation will have the set time when it is send out next week.

Any idea of when initiation would be and who would be the host chapter?

We are currently working with the Granite Affiliate to determine the best date and location for their Initiation. It will likely be either the last Saturday in February (23rd) or one of the first two Saturdays in March (1st or 8th). The ceremony will either occur at one of our nearby chapters in New England, or at a hotel near the UNH campus if the pledges cannot all make the trip south. When details are finalized in the next few weeks, an announcement will be made on this site, on the ADPS Facebook page, and on all the ADPS e-mail lists so that all interested Alpha Delts may make arrangements to attend.
